May + June Favorites 2025
It’s here! It’s now! It’s time to go over my favorites for the past two months! This time, we’re doing a foodie edition of my beloved Favorites blogs.
This wasn’t initially planned, but as I reflected on the past few months, I realized that I tried a lot of new and amazing foods that I want to highlight.
DJ, cue the song!
I don’t know why, but I’ve been playing the same songs from Daft Punk over and over the past few months. They just hit that hard.
Tomatoes, Cottage Cheese, & Turkey (Oh my!)
I saw this food combination on TikTok, and it spoke to me; I knew I had to try it. I’m here to report that it’s delicious and very filling! I added Everything but the Bagel seasoning from Trader Joe’s, with the saltiness bringing out the flavors very nicely. It’s the perfect light breakfast option that fills you up without feeling dense and heavy, or the perfect midday snack to hold you over before dinner. As a fair warning, this snack is very messy, so be sure to have napkins with you while eating.
I hope the bite taken out of one of my tomato sliders illustrates how good these are— I couldn’t wait to take a photo of it.
Homemade French Fries
I recently got an air fryer (very late to the game, I know!!) and started making my own french fries! They taste so yummy and are very filling. They are the perfect low-effort snack that can be cooked with low supervision. I like to make these during my breaks when I work from home, so I can multitask and work on other chores or rest and enjoy my breaks.

Trader Joe’s Japanese Mini Taiyaki
Taiyaki is a Japanese fish-shaped cake, typically filled with red bean paste, custard, chocolate, and other fillings. They are commonly sold as street food, and they taste and smell similarly to a waffle or pancake.
These taiyaki from TJ’s are SO GOOD! Okay, maybe they’re not the most authentic, but I like that these are accessible and easy to heat up and enjoy. I put them in the air fryer (according to instructions listed on the bag), and they come out super crispy and warm. The custard isn’t too sweet, but sweet enough to satisfy my dessert craving. I highly recommend picking up a pack next time you’re at TJ’s. I hope they come out with new filling varieties soon!
Ube Tea Cookies
Another one of my Trader Joe’s staples— these tea cookies are so good! They have a subtly sweet and slightly nutty flavor, and pair well with a cup of tea or matcha. Also, as a purple person (could you tell what my favorite color is?), I love that they’re the color purple!
Fruit + Tajín Bowls
This is definitely not a new snack discovery by any means, but I have been really enjoying cups of fruit with Tajín (or any chile lime seasoning) and a squirt of lime! So refreshing, light, and delicious! You can use any fruit available on hand, but I have enjoyed my bowls with mangoes, pineapples, strawberries, watermelon, and cucumber. Best of all, I feel reconnected to my Mexican roots with each bowl.
Better yet, another way to enjoy fruit bowls is by supporting local fruit and street vendors! These vendors often have wider varieties of fruit, such as jicama, prickly pear, and more, and offer fair prices for their delicacies. You’ll also be supporting small businesses and people who are working hard to provide for their families. It’s a win-win, tbh.
Udon
I recently tried Udon for the first time, and omg, it’s amazing. Why has nobody told me about this sooner?! The thick noodles submerged in warm, flavorful broth taste so delicious and comforting. It’s the perfect meal after a long day in the office, or for a cool and overcast day. They can be enjoyed with just the noodles and broth, or with other toppings and flavors. I prefer just the noodles and broth (with tempura shrimp on the side, of course) since they’re so flavorful and filling on their own.
Mexican Wafers (Obleas)
Out of all Mexican candies and delicacies, these are some of my favorites. Flavorful and sweet, these mini wafers are a great treat to enjoy after any meal. Kidding, lol. These wafers kind of taste like nothing!! And they aren’t very sweet at all! But that’s okay, I still love them nonetheless, and they are really a great treat to enjoy anytime! I like the soft crunch they offer, and the color variety is fun. Also, these are very nostalgic for me since I used to enjoy them as a kid (anyone else offer them to their siblings and friends as the Body of Christ? As a joke, obviously).
Wow, I’m hungry now.
That’s a wrap on what I’ve enjoyed eating the past few months! Thank you for going on this food tour with me.
Is there anything else I should try next month?
See y’all next month, friends!
